Long Island Early Music Festival: Morrongiello & Young in Garden City, May 21

This concert features lute songs of love and courtship from the Elizabethan period.

Marcia Young is a soprano and historical harper and has appeared in concert at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Folger Shakespeare Theatre, and the Cloisters. She serves as Director of Performance Studies for the Department of Music at Yeshiva University.

Dr. Christopher Morrongiello is the Artistic Director of the Long Island Early Music Festival. He is a former British Marshall Scholar and Overseas Research Scholar, a versatile musicologist, performer, teacher, director and luthier who specializes in early music. He is a graduate of the Mannes College of Music, the Royal College of Music, and the University of Oxford where he earned a doctorate in musicology.

The Cathedral is offering free guided tours of the stained glass windows before the concert (at 2:30 pm) as part of the New York Conservancy’s Sacred Sites Open House program.

Tickets: $20 for general seating, $10 for seniors. Students (with ID) and children admitted free.
